Indian head massage (champissage) originates from the traditional Ayurvedic medicine of India. It was first used to keep the hair healthy.
A deeper interpretation suggests that Indian style head massage also offers the opportunity to get in touch with the healing potential within the individuals inner being. This empowers the recipient to ensure their own well-being.
This is a very relaxing massage of the muscle covering the head, found to help with stress, anxiety and other problems. It uses deep thumb and finger pressure, friction, as well as a soothing laying on of hands. The shoulders, neck, arms, scalp and face are all included in the massage. This helps reduce muscular and nervous tension as well as improving the circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid. Cells become fully oxygenated. Physical and emotional toxins are flushed out. The tissues of the neck and the shoulders are stretched and mobilised. Scalp circulation is stimulated and it is this that can improve the strength and texture growth of hair.
The massage also relaxes the scalp and tones subcutaneous muscles, helping to relieve eye strain, headaches and to focus concentration.
The body’s natural balance is addressed and an Indian head massage will leave you with a great feeling of inner peace and clarity. It is said to aid the emotions and disorders of a spiritual nature such as indifference, lack of purpose and long term anxiety.
Swedish Body Massage
Massage is perhaps the oldest and simplest of the healing arts. A Swedish massage, developed in the 19th century by Swedish Doctor Pir Henrik Ling, is a deep massage. It was designed to relieve pain, ease tense or tight muscles, improve circulation and benefit the body in many other ways. Designed to increase in the oxygen flow in the blood and release of toxins from the muscles the massage is beneficial for people with chronically overworked and painful muscles.
Although working on the superficial muscles, the effect benefits deeper layers of muscles and underlying organs. Massage may also act as a means of re-educating the body. It helps us become aware of when we are tensing certain muscles unnecessarily and learn the skill of relaxation.
Body Massage can be tailored to the clients needs, ranging from full body to a back, neck and shoulder massage. The client is able to choose between an invigorating massage or a gentler, more relaxing massage. Privacy and dignity is maintained at all times, with the client being completely covered with the exception of the part of the body undergoing massage.
